Day 113
Today was the day that I leave Singapore. I must admit although I have had a good time in Singapore my feelings are a bit mixed. If you had asked me last year what my ideal city would be I would have listed the following;
- Clean
- Organised
- Efficient
- Quiet
- Safe
- Rule abiding
- Structured
Now Singapore was all of the above however I think my ideal city has changed. It was almost too clean, too organised, too many rules and I have missed the feeling of disorganised chaos that Asia has so far provided. It is a beautiful city and there are loads of activities but it almost feels a bit fake. Everything feels magnified just for the sake of being magnified. It feels like the image of Singapore being a wealthy place is so important to the country. It is a new country and you can tell. The only older architecture is from the time of colonialism. Singapore is like a cleaner version of London. As I said above I really did have a good time. I enjoyed spending time exploring and the people are so kind and helpful however I feel like 4 nights was more than enough for one stay. I am looking forward to a bit of disorganised chaos.
I arrived at Changi Airport nice and early for my flight as I wanted to visit the Jewel complex. This is a shopping and restaurant complex which only opened last month. The whole complex cost 1.7 billion Singapore dollars... a hella lot of money. It is also home to the biggest indoor water feature.Because of this I was quite excited to see it however I must admit it was just very extra. This is something that really sums up Singapore, it is a city trying so hard to be glamorous and perfect. I think Singapore has taught me that there is sometimes some perfection in imperfection.
My flight to Bali passed without incident. I landed and after waiting about 45 minutes at immigration I was on my way to the hostel!
Day 114
Eggs Benedict! What a way to start my day! It was a real treat and absolutely delicious!
We spent the whole day chilling at a beach club called Ku De Ta. It was beyond perfect just sitting by the beach and drinking beers taking the odd dip into the infinity pool.
After a hard day relaxing we paid a visit to a restaurant called Revolver where I had an amazing bowl full of salad, avocado, rice and bean salsa. It was incredible.
After dinner we headed back to Ku De Ta to watch the sunset, of course with a cocktail in hand!
