Day 120 & 121 Hello island life

So the last two days have been a bit of a blur and have flown by so quick!

I arrived in the Gilis and checked into my hostel. I basically spent the last two days chilling by the pool or on the beach. I have enjoyed two beautiful sunsets and just meeting new people!

Gili Trawangan so far has been much more my sort of vibe. It’s a small island off of the coast of Lombok. It is small enough to walk from one side to the other in about 30 minutes. It is also an island with no cars or scooters. The only way to get around is by pushbike or walking. I rented a bike and had such a great time exploring.

I have been in kind of a weird mood the last few days. I have been seriously burnt out recently so I really feel like these three days of relaxing and allowing myself to stop have been amazing. I am going to try and explain how I feel but please stay with me. I really don’t want to sound ungrateful and I love that I have the opportunity to travel. I have honestly had the best time. But... and yes there is a but. It is exhausting. The amount of time spent planning and the activities themselves can be really draining. I feel like it’s important for me right now to just take a breath, enjoy these really beautiful surroundings and also just not plan too much.

My plan for this week is to have another day to chill. Then on Friday I start diving.

I’m sorry that this is not the most informative post but I just needed the time to relax. Enjoy these pictures of a really beautiful sunset!

Bikinis, boat parties and first dates! 27.01.20- 02.02.20

In my effort to keep people updated more with my life I am going to try and write at least one post a week. No promises but here is my summary of the last week! Monday was a public holiday here in Australia which could mean only one thing... brunch and a day at the beach! Amanda and I decided to head on the ferry to Watson’s bay! Shamefully this is the first time that I had been on the ferry! It was absolutely beautiful seeing the city from the boat. The Sydney skyline is actually pretty spectacular.  We arrived at Watson bay and headed to the Watson bay hotel for a spot of brunch. It was delicious. Obviously it would not be brunch without cocktails. It was a day of sitting on the beach and soaking up the sun. Whilst we were there I had a hinge message. For those not in the know, hinge is a dating app. I haven’t dated anyone since leaving the UK but thought it would be fun whilst I am relatively settled in sydney. The message was from a guy called Dan, as...

What I gave up when I left home

Someone I met on my travels said to me ‘everyone long term travelling is either running from something or trying to find something’. Since hearing this I have thought a lot about this. I have said this to other people and am yet to find someone who disagrees.  Whilst I hose down pens or do other cleaning jobs which don’t require much thinking I think about home, I think about the reasons I left and I try to figure out why I left to travel. Some people might think it’s obvious, I mean who doesn’t want to see the world and have fun. You may be asking if they are reason enough but the truth is for most control freaks like myself that wasn’t a good enough reason to leave. Before I can even decide why I left I need to consider what I was giving up. Some days it feels like I gave up so much. The most obvious things I gave up were; Being able to see my family everyday Having awesome friends around An awesome career which for my age was something I was really proud of Having my ...

Day 2- Don’t look the moneys in the eyes

An early train this morning meant a 5:30 wake up call. Feeling very groggy and tired we caught the train from Delhi to Agra. The train was pretty comfortable and actually on time! Due to the nippy morning even my bobble hat got some use! On the train we were served a breakfast which consisted of a biscuit, some vegetable croquet (we didn’t know the name of these however this is as similar as it gets back home). We also got some bread and lemon juice. It was basic but it filled the hole. The first stop in Agra was the Agra Fort. This was built in the late 1500s and is pretty substantial in size coming in at around 94 acres. The fort has been home to many emperors until 1638 when the capital of India moved from Agra to Delhi. It is absolutely beautiful with loads of detailed carvings and incredible architecture. It also  had  some pretty superb views of the Taj Mahal. We even spotted a monkey too! We were told under no circumstances to look them in...
