Day 122 & 123 I am the luckiest girl in the world

Day 122 So today was another chill day. I rented a bicycle and cycled around the island. On my journey I noticed about 40 goats chilling on the beach.  Apart from this I literally spent the whole day sitting on the beach and the evening at the bar. It was awesome Day 123 I absolutely refuse to believe anyone who disagrees that I am the luckiest human on this planet. I started diving today. My first dive was at Deep Turbo. This dive site was about 20m deep and had some insane currant. It washed us along and we barely had to move. This is where I saw my first turtle in Gili T. It was an incredible dive site with a tonne of coral and so many fish. It was so beautiful. My second dive of the day was even better than the first. We went to shark point where again there was  hectic currant. I did however see two sharks, one black tip reef shark from about 15m away which was about 1.5m long. T he second shark was a little baby  white tip reef shar...

Day 120 & 121 Hello island life

So the last two days have been a bit of a blur and have flown by so quick! I arrived in the Gilis and checked into my hostel. I basically spent the last two days chilling by the pool or on the beach. I have enjoyed two beautiful sunsets and just meeting new people!  Gili Trawangan so far has been much more my sort of vibe. It’s a small island off of the coast of Lombok. It is small enough to walk from one side to the other in about 30 minutes. It is also an island with no cars or scooters. The only way to get around is by pushbike or walking. I rented a bike and had such a great time exploring.  I have been in kind of a weird mood the last few days. I have been seriously burnt out recently so I really feel like these three days of relaxing and allowing myself to stop have been amazing. I am going to try and explain how I feel but please stay with me. I really don’t want to sound ungrateful and I love that I have the opportunity to travel. I have honestly had th...

Day 119- oh Nusa Penida, you are undeniably beautiful

I met two people in the hostel and we decided to rent a car and driver to take us to Kelingking Beach and broken beach. We had heard the road conditions were bad so a scooter and driver would not have been a safe option. We hopped in at about 10:30 to take the 45 minute journey.   At 11 we hear the hissing sound that can only mean one thing... a flat tyre... we pull over and our driver quickly hops out to remove the tyre which is as flat as a pancake. But it’s ok because the car has a spare. We remove the cover for the spare to discover this is also flat. This is the start of a long hour long wait for the tyre. This is not really a surprise... but hey! we sat by the side of the road blasting out tunes and enjoying the warmth! Once we eventually got going we headed towards broken beach. The road was horrendous. Even in a car we were bouncing all over the place. It was not comfortable and I felt so bad watching the people on scooters who looked like they wanted to cry goi...

Day 117- A beautiful view!

Day 118 Today I boarded the ferry from Bali to Nusa Penida. Although I had enjoyed my time in Bali it was a bit too busy for me. There were so many people and the traffic was mayhem. It also did not have the island feel that I love where you can walk from one side to the other in less than an hour and spend hours on sandy beaches.  Arriving in Nusa Penida after a really short 45 minute journey I was happy to have the whole afternoon to explore. The first place was to go to diamond point. I had seen so many beautiful pictures and needed to see it for myself. The journey was truly beautiful. Upon arrival at diamond point I walked the 15 minutes down to see the viewing point. Boy it did not disappoint. It was beyond gorgeous. If the rest of Nusa is as beautiful as this then I am in for a complete treat.

Day 117- Swinging around and chasing waterfalls

Today is my last full day on the island of Bali before I get a ferry tomorrow to Nusa Penida. This is a smaller island off the South East of Bali. The morning started with a nice lie in after the long day and minimal sleep yesterday it was so required. This afternoon Danny and I headed to the Tegalalang rice fields. These fields were absolutely beautiful.  Also couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to try out the famous Bali swings that were here... Second stop was to the Tirta Empul Temple. This is a Hindu Balinese Water temple. Built around 962AD on a water spring this temple features a temple pond which is fed by a spring believed to be holy water. Many Hindus come here for ritual purification. The temple itself was very beautiful with ponds of fishes and some gorgeous architecture. The last stop of the day was a waterfall which had been suggested to us by our hostel owner. It is known for being a lot less popular with tou...

Day 116- Hiking an active volcano and monkeys!

Last night ended with this conversation with Danny... Me: I suppose it’s probably a 1:30am wake up.  Danny: yeh transport is at 2am It seemed like a great idea at the time. Not such a great idea at 2am this morning when we were sat outside the hostel waiting for our transport. The plan was a 1.5hour drive to the bottom of mount Batur    which we would then climb in about 2 hours reaching the top for sunrise. Mount Batur is an active volcano with an elevation of 1717m. The last eruption was in 2000, the destruction of which is still visible. I had heard many things about this hike and I was really doubting myself. After the hiking in Taman Negara which pushed me to my physical and mental limits i was seriously doubting my ability to do this. I had also been suffering in Singapore with a bit of pain in my left knee (purely from overuse and walking too much). I was petrified I wasn’t going to make it. The car picked us up on time and the journey was fine but ...

Day 115- Two temples and a waterfall

Today I left seminyak to head north with Danny and Eva, Danny I met in the hostel in Seminyak, Eva I met in Singapore. We had a busy day of sightseeing ahead. It started with Batuan Temple which is located in the village of Batuan. This temple is considered the oldest in Bali having being built in 1020AD.     These temples were built in classical Balinese style architecture.     The second stop was to Tegenungan waterfall. This is a stunning waterfall with a pool at the bottom which was perfect for cooling off in the Bali sun.  There also happened to be a bar called D’Tukad river club. It was an amazing spot to enjoy a drink and enjoy the scenery. After this we headed to a coffee plantation. This was really interesting as we saw how the coffee grows on the tree and is then picked and roasted. We were also told about the Luwak coffee. This is where coffee beans are eaten by the Luwak animal (a super cute little fury...
