Day 62- Longtail boats and Khao San Road

After our overnight train we arrived at 6am in Bangkok. I must admit I did not get the best nights sleep. I was hot and cold and the bed was not exactly the comfiest. But despite this it got us here safely and on time!

After dropping our bags and grabbing some food we decided to hire a private longtail boat. We cruised around Bangkok travelling through the canals looking at all the sites. This included temples, forts, stunning buildings and floating markets.

After our river cruise we decided it would be rude to not go for a massage in Thailand. It was exactly what was needed after the trekking and overnight train.

Of course followed by getting my nails done!

This evening we headed out to the famous Khao San Road!

Although I have had a great day today is a hard day. It is Mother’s Day in the UK. I miss my mum everyday. She is my biggest fan and my biggest inspiration. I love her so much. I would not be who I am today without her being there for every step of the way. Even when I am wrong she has stood by me. Mum you are the best and I cannot tell you that enough.

Bikinis, boat parties and first dates! 27.01.20- 02.02.20

In my effort to keep people updated more with my life I am going to try and write at least one post a week. No promises but here is my summary of the last week! Monday was a public holiday here in Australia which could mean only one thing... brunch and a day at the beach! Amanda and I decided to head on the ferry to Watson’s bay! We arrived at Watson bay and headed to the Watson bay hotel for a spot of brunch. It was delicious. Obviously it would not be brunch without cocktails. What I gave up when I left home

Someone I met on my travels said to me ‘everyone long term travelling is either running from something or trying to find something’. Since hearing this I have thought a lot about this. I have said this to other people and am yet to find someone who disagrees. Whilst I hose down pens or do other cleaning jobs which don’t require much thinking I think about home, I think about the reasons I left and I try to figure out why I left to travel. Some people might think it’s obvious, I mean who doesn’t want to see the world and have fun. You may be asking if they are reason enough but the truth is for most control freaks like myself that wasn’t a good enough reason to leave. Day 2- Don’t look the moneys in the eyes

An early train this morning meant a 5:30 wake up call. Feeling very groggy and tired we caught the train from Delhi to Agra. The train was pretty comfortable and actually on time! Due to the nippy morning even my bobble hat got some use! On the train we were served a breakfast which consisted of a biscuit, some vegetable croquet (we didn’t know the name of these however this is as similar as it gets back home). We also got some bread and lemon juice. It was basic but it filled the hole. The first stop in Agra was the Agra Fort. This was built in the late 1500s and is pretty substantial in size coming in at around 94 acres. The fort has been home to many emperors until 1638 when the capital of India moved from Agra to Delhi. It is absolutely beautiful with loads of detailed carvings and incredible architecture. It also had some pretty superb views of the Taj Mahal. We even spotted a monkey too!
