So the overnight train was better than I thought it would be... minus the roaches and it would have even been pleasant!
We arrived in Nha Trang really early, about 6:30ish. Obviously what else do you do apart from have some breakfast and head to the beach. I was absolutely spoilt with the beach on Koh Rong and unfortunately it’s going to take some doing to match it. This beach was a lot busier and the sand wasn’t as soft. Despite this however it was lovely to just sit on the beach and spend a few hours relaxing.
After this relaxation we decided it would be rude not to squeeze in a bit of culture. We started off by taking a trip to Po Nagar which is a Cham temple tower built somewhere between the 7th and 12th centuries. Originally the complex had eight towers but now only four remain. Of which the 28m high North Tower is the most magnificent.
After this we took a trip to see Long Song Pagoda. This is a Buddhist Temple situated on the foothills of Trai Thuy Mountain. It is most famous for the large white Buddha image sat atop the mountain crest. It was built in 1886 in the style of Taoist architecture. It is absolutely stunning!
After a long day we finished off by going to see the night market. This was quite small in comparison to other markets but had beautiful hanging lanterns that light up the street.
I must admit hitting 40 days has made me quite homesick. There has also been a virus circulating around the group and I am not feeling 100%. An early night and a good nights sleep is very much in order!
