Day 3- Samosas in a movie theatre

This morning was a little uneventful. We took a bus from Agra to Jaipur. This took about 5 hours. We passed through the country side and saw lots of animals and villages.

Upon arrival in Jaipur we had some lunch at our accommodation and then headed into the centre to see a Bollywood movie. The cinema is called Raj Mandir. It has been rated number 3 by CNN travel in the category of worlds most enjoyable movie theatres. The actual cinema itself really stood out!



The inside was not what I expected. The movie we went to see was called Manikarnika and was about the first revolt of
independence in India. The protagonist was the queen of
Jhansi was a major figure during the first revolt. 


For movie snacks I chose a samosa. Very different from the traditional popcorn! 


We then went to have a look at the Royal Albert Hall Museum. Again this was stunning! We were really lucky to go and see it at night! 


To end the day we went to go get some street food. I chose a vegetable and cheese dosa and can say that I was not disappointed. It was absolutely delicious.

What I gave up when I left home

Someone I met on my travels said to me ‘everyone long term travelling is either running from something or trying to find something’. Since hearing this I have thought a lot about this. I have said this to other people and am yet to find someone who disagrees.  Whilst I hose down pens or do other cleaning jobs which don’t require much thinking I think about home, I think about the reasons I left and I try to figure out why I left to travel. Some people might think it’s obvious, I mean who doesn’t want to see the world and have fun. You may be asking if they are reason enough but the truth is for most control freaks like myself that wasn’t a good enough reason to leave. Before I can even decide why I left I need to consider what I was giving up. Some days it feels like I gave up so much. Day 2- Don’t look the moneys in the eyes

An early train this morning meant a 5:30 wake up call. Feeling very groggy and tired we caught the train from Delhi to Agra. The train was pretty comfortable and actually on time! Due to the nippy morning even my bobble hat got some use! On the train we were served a breakfast which consisted of a biscuit, some vegetable croquet (we didn’t know the name of these however this is as similar as it gets back home). We also got some bread and lemon juice. It was basic but it filled the hole. The first stop in Agra was the Agra Fort. This was built in the late 1500s and is pretty substantial in size coming in at around 94 acres. The fort has been home to many emperors until 1638 when the capital of India moved from Agra to Delhi. It is absolutely beautiful with loads of detailed carvings and incredible architecture. It also  had  some pretty superb views of the Taj Mahal. We even spotted a monkey too!
